The Changes of Circumstance project has delivered a range of SITS:Vision developments to process a student’s changes in circumstance more efficiently, including updates to the student record and communications with the student and relevant departments within the University. These developments have enabled our colleagues in the Academic Registry to provide greater quality and consistency in student data, reporting (including statutory and UKVI requirements) and communications with the student and their Academic School(s). Ultimately, these benefits produce an enhanced experience for students whose circumstances change during the course of their studies.
These developments have provided enhancements in the following changes of circumstance:
- Leave of Absence
- Extension to Study – Postgraduate Research
- Extension to Study – Postgraduate Taught
- Postgraduate Re-registration
- Postgraduate-research student changes in location of studies
We are currently working on a development to manage re-engagement following a student’s period of leave of absence, and this will be ready for testing in the next few weeks.
We thank all the Academic Registry staff who have given up their precious time to work with us on this project over the last 5 months, and for the excellent feedback we have received from them following deployment of the developments. For example, the Postgraduate Research team have reported that the extension to study development has saved them 15 minutes of processing time per case, and the Undergraduate team have reported that the leave of absence development is saving them 75% of processing time per case.
We also thank our colleagues in IT Services, and from Tribal (our partner) who have been invaluable to the project. They have worked tirelessly to help us deliver the project timeously.
